Yesterday, Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB unveiled a new video game/cinema hybrid titled “Trials on Tatooine”. This VR “experiment” puts you in the shoes of a young Kylo Ren while he is learning to be a Jedi under Luke Skywalker. “Trials on Tatooine was shown at the San Francisco’s Game Developer’s Conference and was designed to be an entry level VR experience. It was also noted that “Trials on Tatooine” isn’t targeted for commercial release. It is planned to be at conventions and events like Star Wars weekend or the Disney Star Wars Cruise, at least for now.
This looks amazingly fun and intrigues me about how much backstory they are delving into. Also a VR lightsaber sounds boss. It should be noted that ILMxLAB is working hand in hand with Disney Parks to bring Star Wars Land to life. Expect to see more of cool stuff like this from Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB when the VR market starts to grow.
