New Trailer for Indpendence Day: Resurgence

Happy Earth Day.

20th Century Fox  has dropped a big burning city’s worth of new trailer on us today in the form of ID4:Resurgence. The new trailer really ramps up the action and destruction. Also it gives us a better look at our returning heroes and some new heroes that will probably utter “Welcome to Earth” some where along the line. I’m happy to see Judd Hirsh back and happy to see maybe a new alien (or just a new exo-suit) that brings some kaiju action into the fray. I also like the ‘Thunderbirds Go’ vibe I get from Earth’s new ships and laser weaponry.

The sequel was directed by Roland Emmerich ,and it stars Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward.

I just have to point out though…not a very classy way to write Will Smith out and not very heroic. Don’t be hate’n that Suicide Squad looks so bad ass.

Also to help educate and shill this movie, Fox sent out this “in character” PSA from Goldblum’s  Earth Space Defence Director David Levinson.

Emmerich will blow S@*T up again June 24,2016

  1. Oh my god its Earth day I thought this was the day after Prince died. I look forward to this film and Will Smith don’t be greedy. You could have had two big pay days this summer. Is any one really going to SS to see Will interpretation of Deadshot. Hell I forgot he was in that movie. Way to go Emmerich blow him up in a test plane. If this does well BigWillieStyle will be back for ID4 3. Unless that sequel to Wild Wild West or After Earth is ever coming out. What ever Will what ever.

    1. I guess didn’t elaborate my point. It’s not the point Fresh Prince isn’t in the movie, it’s that it looks lazy to me how they wrote him out. Kinda like “HeyWill isn’t coming back and we don’t really want to spend money on a huge rewrite.” Next guy, “So we’ll kill him off in a disposable crash scene, split his scenes between Thor’s brother and Will’s kid from the first movie, then we’ll throw a pic from the first movie in there just to let people know what that family looked like in 1996.” First guy, “Sounds like a cheap, unimaginative, and great idea. Let’s start shooting so we come out at the twenty year mark.”

  2. To me it was a big middle finger to Will. He is the one that out priced himself to be in this movie. I can’t think of a better way then just have him die in a plane crash. Seems fitting art imitating life kinda thing. Career and plane crash metaphor. Brilliant!
