First Trailer For Chris Pratt And Jennifer Lawrence’s Passengers.

When news of this movie first came out I honestly didn’t know what to think of it. But after watching the first trailer for Passengers I can say I want to see more. Directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), Passengers looks to be a huge mixture of romance, action, suspense, and humor all wrapped up in a sci-fi box.

Here is a brief synopsis…

A spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet and transporting thousands of people has a malfunction in its sleep chambers. As a result, two passengers are awakened 90 years early

Here is the trailer…

Looks good. Extra points for Michael Sheen as a bartending android. Creepy as hell too.

Things could have went in a completely different direction with this film. Passengers first popped up on the radar when it was on the famed Blacklist (the best unmade scripts of the year) in 2007. At first the film’s story and screenplay were developed at Keanu Reeves and Stephen Hamel’s production company, Company Films with Reeves attached to star. Reese Witherspoon, Rachel McAdams, and Emily Blunt were all attached to the role that Lawrence would eventually get. After getting bounced between three different directors, the movie finally landed at Morten Tyldum. And lets not even get started on which studios had their hands in this too.

At the end of the day the trailer looks great so all of the behind-the-scenes turmoil seems worth it. Can you imagine this flick with Keanu Reeves though?

And also, after reading the synopsis, did anyone else think of Red Dwarf? Anyone? Oh well…

The movie comes out December 21, 2016
