DC’s Very PG-Rated Trailer For Their R-Rated JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK (UPDATE)

When things go bump in the night, they bump back…Oh, wait…that’s another supernatural super team. This super team in comprised of all of the DC Universes supernatural and paranormal super heroes all working together under the banner of Justice League Dark. I’ve been out of the comics game for a while now so I can’t comment on the comic book or how well this trailer captures its mood or coolness…sorry.

But in another bold (in their mind) move, DC Animated is giving us another R-rated animated movie. At the moment this is for “Some Disturbing Violence”, just glad it’s not for “Disturbing Sex Scene With Batman and Batgirl” like with Killing Joke. But honestly, I’m just glad to get more time with the animated DCU, so bring it on.

Watch the Trailer…

I do have to admit, rating or not, that it looks great. Has some of my favorite DC characters all in one place so I’m all for it. We’ll have to see how it plays out in the first quarter of the new year. But one thing to really get excited about is that Matt Ryan is returning to the role of John Constantine, so that’s great news.

DC has given out the release date of Justice League Dark. The animated film will be released on January 24 on digital, and February 7 on DVD & Blu-Ray. They also included the cover art for the Blu-Ray.

The movie stars the voice talent of Jerry O’Connell as Superman, Jason O’Mara as Batman, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Matt Ryan as John Constantine, Camilla Luddington as Zatanna, Roger Cross as Swamp Thing, Nicholas Tuturro as Deadman, Ray Chase as Jason Blood/Etrigan, and Alfred Molina as Destiny.

The Blu-ray and Blu-ray Deluxe Gift Set versions of “Justice League Dark”come with bonus extras featuring a sneak preview of the next DC animated flick “Teen Titans: The Judas Contract,” a featurette on the origins of Swamp Thing, and a behind-the-scenes making-of mini documentary.

    1. True, but I think DC animation doesn’t have the guts to really go full R with one of their titles…even though back in the day the comics went there. Hell, Green Arrow was even an adult book.

  1. No main stream studio has the guts. If they do they animate food or some crap and make a comedy (not a good one mind you) out of it. Just imagine a Swamp Thing cartoon or Jonah Hex or even a Punisher with a R-rating. I would even do a Deadpool between movies kinda thing. Ah but narrow in vision and wide in pocket book is what motivates these decisions.
