After giving us a teaser trailer that stopped our hearts late last year, Disney and Pixar finally give us a new trailer for Cars 3 that gives us a glimpse of the story. They have also included a new synopsis of the film.
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
Take a look at the trailer…
In an interview Director Brian Fee shed a little more insight on the film…
“McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1. He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”
I for one am very excited for this film. I’ve always been a fan of the Cars films (even 2) because the first one surprised me so much with its heart and soul. Its easy to see that they are taking a more serious path with the third installment over what they did for the second. Hell, Mater doesn’t even make an appearance in this trailer. What makes me even more pumped for Cars 3 is that my son is now at an age where he is all about 4 wheels and an engine and I’ve introduced him to the Cars films. He instantly fell in love with them and they (along with Mater Tales) are in constant loop on the weekends. I’m just glad my daughter likes them too or that could lead trouble with the TV.
Anyways, Cars 3 stars all of our favorite denizens of Radiator Springs and will add Cristela Alonzo as Cruz Ramirez, Lightning’s new Crew Chief and Armie Hammer as Jackson Storm, Lightning’s new super rich and super augmented rival.
