Fiction’s Fearless Females – Rey

To help celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8) and Women’s History Month (March), I along with some of WordPress’s best bloggers are teaming up to shine a spotlight on some of our favorite fearless females from movies, comics, television, and beyond.

This weeks entry comes from Kiri over at Star Wars Anonymous. Kiri has a great Star Wars blog that honestly I’m just starting to dig into. She talks about all facets of Star Wars, geek culture, and her personal life, which is all stuff I dig.

For her entry into “Fiction’s Fearless Females”, Kiri chose the character Rey from Star Wars. Sadly, Rey is a character that is the very definition of fearless but in today’s weird social climate she has been met with controversy and has become a figure head for people’s disdain for the new “Disney” Star Wars movies and mythos. I for one am a fan of Rey and the new stories within the Star Wars universe. To me Rey has become a figurehead of not controversy but of the very foundations of Star Wars. Personal Strength, Good versus Evil, and Limitless Adventure. Kiri’s entry mirrors some of these sentiments as well as her own personal story of personal strength.

Anyways, read Kiri’s great write-up of Rey at the link below and stop to check out Kiri’s entire site which is a beautiful love letter to Star Wars.
