To help celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8) and Women’s History Month (March), I along with some of WordPress’s best bloggers are teaming up to shine a spotlight on some of our favorite fearless females from movies, comics, television, and beyond.
This weeks offering comes from the awesome Green Onion. His site is chock-full of great reviews on comics, children’s literature, and musings from his “walk of life” (to quote the Dire Straits).
For his entry into “Fiction’s Fearless Females” he chose the ever heroic and tenacious Ellen Ripley from the Alien movie franchise.
It’s a great read, so please head on over to his blog and read his fantastic write-up of one of the world of fiction’s most fearless females, Ellen Ripley.
In this Issue of IT CAME FROM… My Side of the Laundry Room I show-off a really great Jabba the Hutt figure from the Star Wars Black Series that was donated by a fan -and- I open and play with some original Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Ranger Happy Meal toys from 1989.
This is a video that I wish I would have done earlier. Ever since I made and posted this video I have been finding dozens of other great examples of Christmas scenes and themes in films that are not Christmas movies.
This is only a small list of some great movies that haven’t been deemed Christmas films BUT have a healthy dose of the holiday within its story and/or setting. Enjoy!!
There is just something about the kinship of a boy in the 80s that he has with motorcycles. Maybe it comes from the freedom and speed that you huger for but can never achieve on your bicycle. Maybe its how cool they look, or just the longing to be grown-up.
