Fiction’s Fearless Females -Princess Leia

To help celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8) and Women’s History Month (March), I along with some of WordPress’s best bloggers are teaming up to shine a spotlight on some of our favorite fearless females from movies, comics, television, and beyond.

This week’s entry is from the very insightful Jeff from The Imperial Talker.  Jeff has a tremendous Star Wars blog that looks at the bigger picture of Star Wars and how it reflects on our world with social views and commentary. He also has some great haiku poems and needs to bring that feature back, ASAP!

For his entry into “Fiction’s Fearless Females”, Jeff chose the first Princess I ever had a crush on, Princess Leia. As a kid I was smitten with Leia for her strength and no BS approach to the Empire. I think this was the first time I ever saw a girl stand up to the villain of a story and not really ever waver in her convictions, She wanted to bring them down and she stopped at nothing to try and complete this goal.

For his entry, Jeff has only chose to cover Leia’s story in The New Hope. With such a deep and fascinating history this is the best place to start while talking about Princess Leia. Hit the link below to read this great entry into the Fiction’s Fearless Females event.

Issue #31 – Jabba the Hutt & Rescue Rangers

In this Issue of IT CAME FROM… My Side of the Laundry Room I show-off a really great Jabba the Hutt figure from the Star Wars Black Series that was donated by a fan -and- I open and play with some original Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Ranger Happy Meal toys from 1989.

Toys I Wish I Had As A Kid – Christmas Edition

Well it’s that time of year again. Lights are twinkling, there’s music in the air, and i remember some of the times Santa ripped me off. These are some of the toys I remember asking Santa for when i was a kid and for one reason or another they never made it under the tree.

This is a return of sorts as I use to write about all the toys I wanted as a kid but never got. Most of those stories revolved around my parents dropping the ball but this time it falls squarely on the shoulders of the holly jolly con artist, Santa Claus.

As always this is meant to be fun and just a good way to remember some great toys from our childhood. Enjoy!

Issue #27 – Truckin’ Turtles & Dorky Xmas Ornaments

In this issue of IT CAME FROM… MY SIDE OF THE LAUNDRY ROOM I get into the Christmas spirit by busting out some of my favorite dorky Christmas tree ornaments -and- I take a look at one of the weirdest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Other Strangeness books that was ever published… can you say “Tiny Ninja Shriner Cars”?

80s Halloween Costume Spooktacular

In this episode I talk about some of the memorable homemade costumes I wore as a kid and I give a list of 10 I wish I had as a kid and as an adult.
