Fiction’s Fearless Females -Princess Leia

This week’s entry is from the very insightful Jeff from The Imperial Talker.  Jeff has a tremendous Star Wars blog that looks at the bigger picture of Star Wars and how it reflects on our world with social views and commentary. He also has some great haiku poems and needs to bring that feature back, ASAP!

For his entry into “Fiction’s Fearless Females”, Jeff chose the first Princess I ever had a crush on, Princess Leia. As a kid I was smitten with Leia for her strength and no BS approach to the Empire. I think this was the first time I ever saw a girl stand up to the villain of a story and not really ever waver in her convictions, She wanted to bring them down and she stopped at nothing to try and complete this goal.

For his entry, Jeff has only chose to cover Leia’s story in The New Hope. With such a deep and fascinating history this is the best place to start while talking about Princess Leia. Hit the link below to read this great entry into the Fiction’s Fearless Females event.

This week’s entry is from the very amazing and talented artist and writer Kathleen from Graphic Novelty².  Kathleen and Nancy (you can read Nancy’s entry on Captain Janeway from Star Trek HERE) have an incredible site where they review great graphic novel, YA books, and contemporary novels. Swing by and give it a browse.

For her entry into “Fiction’s Fearless Females”, Kathleen chose a woman that most would view as the pinnacle of womanly strength, heroics, and empowerment, Wonder Woman.

This in-depth and wonderful post is something everyone who is a fan of comic book history, American history, women’s empowerment, or personal growth should read.

Fiction’s Fearless Females – Scarlett

When the subject of fearless women in fiction ever comes up, my thoughts instantly go to the first woman I ever idolized. Her name was Scarlett and she was a member of G.I. Joe. When I was a kid growing up in the 80s, G.I. Joe had three separate “universes”. There Continue reading “Fiction’s Fearless Females – Scarlett”
