Before they were the powerhouse that they are today, Marvel was a struggling company that was trying to find some way to stay afloat. Marvel took a lot of chances trying to find a way to become finally successful again. One of those chances was to buy an animation production company and start producing animation of their own.
That was the start of Marvel Productions, a great animation company that ran from 1981 to 1993. Under the Marvel Productions banner a lot of great cartoons were created based on some of the 80s biggest icons.
Here is a quick history of the cartoons they made through out the 80s. Maybe one day I’ll discuss the ups and downs of Marvel and what led them to be bought by Disney, but this episode is all about the cartoons we grew up with. I hope you enjoy!
The 80s gave us some of the greatest toy lines ever created. In a bold move that has become very rare nowadays, toy companies added huge playsets to their popular toy franchises. They were big, they were expensive, and they were coveted by a many of kid in the 1980s. Playsets!
There is just something about the kinship of a boy in the 80s that he has with motorcycles. Maybe it comes from the freedom and speed that you huger for but can never achieve on your bicycle. Maybe its how cool they look, or just the longing to be grown-up.
